Visa to Ghana
In order to obtain a visa to Ghana applicants should provide to our Agency the following:
Tourist visa
- Valid, signed U.S. passport. Must be valid for at least 6 months after departing and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 2 passport-type photographs.
- 2 filled out visa application forms
- Copy of round trip airline tickets or itinerary, or letter from travel agent.
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever (will have to be presented at the point of entry).
- Evidence of financial support (recent copy of bank statement or letter from bank/sponsors)
Business visa
- Valid, signed U.S. passport. Must be valid for at least 6 months after departing and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 4 passport-type photographs.
- 4 filled out visa application forms.
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever.
- A business letter of responsibility is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead or from a business in Ghana and addressed to:
Embassy of Ghana, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.
The letter must explain:
- Nature of business to be performed;
- Name and address of reference to be visited;
- Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
- The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

Additional information:
- The single entry Ghana tourist or business visa is usually valid for three months from date of issue, for a stay not to exceed 30 days.
- Multiple entry visa is usually valid for 1 year. The Embassy of Ghana recommends obtaining the multiple entry visa. (Request in writing please).
- In the case of journalist and or film crew who are covering an event or shooting a film in Ghana, the application shall take two weeks (14 days) for processing. In addition, such an applicant shall complete another form to indicate the nature of coverage and equipment to be taken to Ghana. Upon arrival in Ghana, such applicant shall call at the Information Services Department for accreditation.
