Visa to Burkina Faso
In order to obtain a visa to Burkina Faso applicants should provide to our Agency the following:
Tourist Visa
- Valid, signed U.S. passport. Must be valid for at least 6 months after departing and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 2 Passport-type photographs
- 2 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
Business Visa
- Valid, signed U.S. passport. Must be valid for at least 6 months after departing and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 2 Passport-type photographs
- 2 Visa Application Forms, fully completed and signed
- A business letter of responsibility is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Burkina Faso, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
- Nature of business to be performed
- Name and address of reference to be visited
- Guarantee of return Transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
- The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.
Fees: $115.00 (3 months multiple entries visa), $140.00 (6 months multiple entries visa). Please make a money order, company check or personal check payable to Consular Assistance, Inc. Processing time: 3 business days.
Additional Information
- Visa is valid for a maximum stay of three months or six months. It may be extended, but this must be arranged in the country by contacting the General Office of the National Police in Ouagadougou.
- Vaccinations: inoculation against yellow fever is required. A cholera vaccination is recommended, and may be required in the event of an outbreak.
- Be aware that it is unlawful to photograph airports, military camps, and the vicinity of government offices.
- The national currency is the CFA franc, common to Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo. The CFA franc is fixed to the French franc at a rate of 655.95 CFA= 1 Euro.
- Transportation: in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, taxis and buses are available at reasonable fares, but public transport is not available elsewhere. In Koudougou and Banfora, taxis are also available. In several cities, it is possible to rent a car.
- Accommodations: There are hotels, inns, and camps in all cities and in tourist and safari areas.
